A
A group in which the independent variable is not present and is the standard to which comparisons are made in an experiment.

How do error bars work?
A
If there is a big overlap then the difference is not significant. If there is a little overlap then the difference is less significant. If there is no overlap then the difference is significant.

A
Trees cannot grow in the Sahara because of a lack of fertile soil and water. If there is not fertile soil and water, then trees cannot grow.
