1.3 Experimental Design Flashcards
What axis is the independent variable on?
x-axis
What axis is the dependent variable on?
y-axis
What is a hypothesis?
a reason that explains a phenomenon
Why do you need the control group?
This is the group that does not receive treatment and it will help you compare your results of 1 changed variable.
How are error bars used?
They are used compare the overlap of each bar.
If there is more overlap on the error bars, what does that mean?
It means that there is less variation from the mean. If there is less overlap, then that means there is more variation.
What are the steps to writing a hypothesis?
Step 1: come up with a reason that explains something
Step 2: write a testable statement
write a hypothesis about how bees are affected by fungicide
