Why was the warsaw Pact created
As a response to west Germany joining NATO
What was the Warsaw Pact
It was a defensive military alliance with countries such as Poland, Hugary, Czechoslovakia ect these countries were known as the eastern bloc
What started the Arms race
The US atomic bomb that gave them an advantage over the other countries

2 ICBM bombs
What were the nuclear weapons used for
They were no longer used to win wars as they could destroy the whole world easily but they were used as a deterant.

He reorganised the whole communist government by releasing political prisoners ect

Because they thought Krushchev would take a softer approach

The US were not happy, however they did not supply any military support as they saw Hungary as an existing communist country, so to invade would probably of caused nuclear war
This made krushchev more confident that no other country would rebell against them
And made krushchev more confident in negotiations with the US
