Q

Why did Moralists disapprove of Enclosure according to historian Christopher Hill?

A

Enclosure of common land not only increased corn production it also deprived the poor of a source of fuel and pasture and so by increasing their dependence on wages forced them to work harder and more regularly than they otherwise would have done ….. Enclosure for pasture would increase employment in the clothing industry, as the same time it reduced the numbers of those who lived off the commons without working, and so released labour for industry.
