What are the 5 different types of drugs?
- Narcotic. (Sleepy)
- Pain killers. (Block nerve impulses)
- Stimulants. (Speeds up reaction time)
- Depressants. (Relax)
- Hallucinogens.(changes responses)
Give an example of a pain killer and an hallucinogen.
Painkillers-morphine

Carbon monoxide reduces the amount of oxygen that red blood cells can carry and makes blood vessels narrower.
What effect does this have on the heart, cells and other muscles?
Lack of oxygen to the heart muscles can result in heart attack and circulatory diseases.
Body cells supplied by now narrowed vessels get less oxygen and die, dead tissue gets easily infected and must be removed.

It is highly addictive and makes it difficult to give up smoking tobacco

Heavy drinking can cause cirrhosis of the liver.(normal tissue is destroyed and liver can’t function properly)
Brain damage ( effects learning and memory or causes a blood clot in the brain)

- Slows down brain activity and nervous system (reaction time, coordination and blurred vision)
- Lowers inhibitions
- Unconsciousness
What is a transplant?
When a healthy organ is taken from a donor and put into a patient to replace an organ that no longer functions properly.
What is a drug?
Any chemical substance that changes the way in which the body works.

False, hospitals won’t perform transplants on alcohol abusers unless they stay sober for 6 months in advance.
