It made the monarch head of the chuch, make all swear an oath of allegiance and establish an ecclestical high commisiom to punish those in the clergy whose loyalty was in doubt
What was the act of uniformity?
It established the church appearences and their services. It also made a book of common prayer which had to be used or people were punished and was vauge so catholics and protestants could interpret it in their own ways. Priest had to wear special clothing

Orders from william cecil on behalf of the queen to enforce the 2 acts, show how to worship god and how to structure the correct church services. Every church was to have an english copy of the bible, no one was to priech without a licence. Images were allowed in churches which angered puritans and pilgrimages and monuments to fake miracles were banned

Mostly as 8000 of 10000 priests changed religeon but only one bishop changed so the other 27 were replaced. Elizabeth could not afford to lose more as there was a shortage of qualified protestants in England
How did Elizabeth approach areas of many Catholics
She wanted a soft approach as to not cause violence. It mostly went well but protestants in london grew violent and destroyed monuments and statues of saints.

Role of the church of England
Legitimised the monarchs power, enforced the religeous settlement, gave guidance to communites and controlled what was prieched. The ran visitations on churches to ensure the settlement was being followed. Began in 1559 and 400 clergy were dismissed. 16 caused heavy distruction which the queen was against. She did not want religeos beliefs to be closely investigated. After 1559 they were every 3-4 years. Priests, teachers, midwives, surgeons and physicians had to show a licence for their work allowing the CoE to monitor the countries workers.
