Role of the church of England

A

Legitimised the monarchs power, enforced the religeous settlement, gave guidance to communites and controlled what was prieched. The ran visitations on churches to ensure the settlement was being followed. Began in 1559 and 400 clergy were dismissed. 16 caused heavy distruction which the queen was against. She did not want religeos beliefs to be closely investigated. After 1559 they were every 3-4 years. Priests, teachers, midwives, surgeons and physicians had to show a licence for their work allowing the CoE to monitor the countries workers.
