12 Rates Flashcards
What is the rate equation?
r=k[A]^x[B]^y
r= moldm-3s-1
K= add all units to eqn and calc
[]=moldm-3
Total order of reaction?
Sum of orders of reactants
Arrhenius equation: What is it, graphical representation, rearrangement.
k = Ae–Ea/RT
K is the rate constant found in rate eqn.
Graphically, when linearised, ln a is y-int, and gradient is Ea/Rt.
ln k = ln A –Ea /RT
Orders of reaction: Effect on rate, rate-determining step, rate equation, graphical representation
0: No effect on rate, not in rate determining step, not in rate equation.
(horizontal line graphically)
1st: proportional, 1mole in rds, [A] in rate equation.
(Direct proportion line graphically)
2nd: X^2 (Where X is multiplier), 2 moles in rds, [B]^2 in rate equation.
(Positive part of Quadratic Graph)
