Employing the correct number of staff with the right skills at the right time. This includes what identifying what vacancies exist, and recruiting new staff.
What is annual leave?
An employees paid holiday a year. Every employee is legally entitled to 5.6 weeks paid holiday a year
What is maternity/paternity leave
When an employee is given paid time off in order to take care of their child before, during and after pregnancy
What are external changes?
Factors that can impact a business which are out of the business’s control
How does retirement affect workforce planning?
Senior employees who retire will force the business to open vacancies in senior positions and this may result in a loss of experience and key skills
What are some advantages to effective workforce planning?
- More able to meet its objectives
- Able to respond to external factors more effectively
- Competitive advantage
What are some disadvantages to effective workforce planning?
- Costly to implement
- Time consuming
