What’s electrical insulation?
Does not allow the flow of electricity to go through through the material
What is thermal expansion?
The increase in material volume in response to heat input
What’s an electrical conductor?
Allows the flow of electrical current through materials
What’s bending strength?
The ability to resist forces that may bend the material
What’s tensile strength?
Ability to resist strength or pulling forces
What’s compressive strength?
The ability to withstand being crushed or shortened by pushing forces
What’s shear strength?
The ability to resist sliding forces on parallel plane
What’s hardness?
Ability to resist abrasive wear such as scratching or cutting
What’s toughness?
Ability to absorb impact force with out fracture
What’s plasticity?
Ability to be permanently deformed and then retain the deformed shape
What’s translucent?
Allows light through but diffuses the light so that objects appears blurred
What is opaque?
Prevents light from travelling through
What does transparent mean?
Allows light to pass through easily which means you can see clearly through the material
What’s density?
The mass of te material in a standard volume of space
What does corrosion/ degradation resistance mean?
Ability of the material to withstand environment attack and decay
