Main Feed Check Valve
Connected to main feed water pipe line from feed pumps
screw-down non-return type of valve
operated by feed water
regulate the amount of water fed into the boiler
Water Level Guage
Situated on either side of the boiler
Indicates the water level in the boiler
Safety valves
lifts at a pressure above the maximum working pressure
pre-set and locked
ensure boiler safety by releasing steam by lifting off when there is an abnormal rise in pressure
Main Steam Stop Valves
Connected to main steam pipeline (carries steam to various distribution lines)
isolate the boiler from main steam line
Air Valves
Highest point of boiler
opened to allows air to escape when raising steam from cold
Pressure guage with valve
connected to steam space
Scum Valve
accumulate foreign matter which floats on the water
skimmed off by blowing top layer of water out of boiler
Salinometer valve
fitted in the water space through
a sample of boiler water can be drawn off for testing
Blowdown valve
bottom of boiler
connected by a pipe to blowdown valve on the ship’s side
opened to empty boiler in port prior to opening up for cleaning and inspection
