A metabolism is the intake and use of energy so an object that is not gaining or using any energy for things such as growing it is not alive.

Are atoms alive?
No, they make up living things but they are not alive themselves.
What is an argument that uses PMC as evidence?
Are viruses alive? PMC can be used because viruses don’t have a metabolism.
What is an example of an ecosystem?
All of the living and non-living things in Lake Michigan.
