HYD TST - RESET AFTER 5 SEC

  • Land as soon as practical
  • Shallow approach with left sideslip
  • Run-on landing

CAUTION: Landing is made easier with a right-quartering headwind. If the airspeed is lower than 20 KIAS, go-around is impossible due to the decreased efficiency of the fin.

ENGINE FAILURE IN FLIGHT EP - ACCOMPLISH

DOORS - OPEN

BEFORE WATER CONTACT - DOORS JETTISON

Upon water contact with minimum forward A/S

COLLECTIVE - APPLY FULL PITCH AS HELICOPTER SETTLES

CREW AND PASSENGERS - EXIT WHEN ROTOR STOPS TURNING

17
Q
A
  • Jettison the doors at a hover
  • Crew and passengers except pilot EXIT helicopter
  • Hover to safe distance from personnel
  • Switch off all electrical switches
  • Pull the fuel shut off lever
  • Autorotate

Upon water contact with minimum forward A/S:

COLLECTIVE - APPLY FULL PITCH AS HELICOPTER SETTLES

PILOT - EXIT WHEN ROTOR STOPS TURNING

18
Q
A

WARNING/CAUTION PANEL - TEST

If ENG P light does not illuminate and torque meter low/zero:

AUTOROTATE

ENGINE - SHUT DOWN

If torque meter correct, or ENG P light illuminates and torque meter low/zero:

LAND - AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

  • Shut down the engine immediately after landing

If ENG P light illuminates and torque meter correct:

  • Monitor ENG P light
  • Land as soon as practical
19
Q
A

POWER - REDUCE

AIRSPEED - ADJUST (80 KIAS)

LAND - AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

ENGINE - SHUT DOWN

20
Q

OIL PRESSURE INDICATOR - CHECK

If oil pressure is low:

LOW ENG OIL PRESSURE EP - ACCOMPLISH

If oil pressure is normal maintain Ng below the following:

  • Land as soon as practical
21
Q
A

If Nr and NTL values agree:

COLLECTIVE - LOWER

If reading does not rise to governed value:

  • Refer to Governor Failure EP’s
22
Q
A

TORQUE - MAINTAIN ABOVE 10%

NR - READ ON NTL POINTER

LAND - AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

23
Q
A
  • Slowly move collective (torque above 10%)

If Nr does not remain in governed range:

LAND - AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

If Nr remains in governed range:

  • Land as soon as practical
24
Q
A

In hover

HYD PRESSURE SWITCH - OFF

LAND - NORMALLY

In flight

HYD PRESSURE SWITCH - OFF

HYD LIGHT EP - ACCOMPLISH

CAUTION: Hovering HYD OFF is extremely demanding and should only be attempted if absolutely necessary. In the event of a Yaw servo-control slide-valve seizure in a hover with no rotation consider maintaining hydraulic pressure throughout the landing.

NOTE: Load feedback will be felt immediately and may be heavy if the helicopter is flying at high speed:

Collective pitch: Approximately 20 kg load increase.

Cyclic: Approximately 7-12 kg left-hand cyclic load and 2-4 kg forward cyclic load.

Yaw pedals: Practically no load in cruising flight.

25
Q
A

TRIM RELEASE SWITCH - PRESS AND HOLD

If blockage persists

SHEAR PIN - BREAK (+10 KG FORCE)

  • Land as soon as practical

If blockage disappears

  • Press the FEEL REL pushbutton
  • Continue flight in accordance with MEL
26
Q
A

Avoid abrupt maneuvers and maintain angle of bank below 30°.

AUTOPILOT - DISENGAGE

In flight

AIRSPEED - ADJUST

HYD PRESSURE SWITCH - OFF

  • Land as soon as practical
  • Fly a shallow approach
  • Perform a run-on landing at low speed
  • Perform a normal engine shut down

Hover IGE, Takeoff and Final (if landing within 30 sec. is possible):

  • Land normally
  • Perform a normal engine shut down

WARNING: As control loads increase, be careful not to inadvertently move twist grip out of flight position.

WARNING: Do not depress HYD TEST as this will result in heavy pedal control loads.

WARNING Do not attempt hover flight or any low speed maneuvers as this will result in excessive pilot workload, poor aircraft control and possible loss of aircraft control.

CAUTION: The pilot may have to jettison external loads if control load is found to be too significant at safe speed.

NOTE: Accumulators will compensate hydraulic pressure loss for a limited operation of the main rotor controls allowing to secure flight conditions and to establish hydraulic failure safety speed (40-60 KIAS). Each control input will deplete HYD pressure in the accumulators. If unsure whether the landing can be accomplished before HYD pressure depletion, or if failure occurs in hover OGE, consider proceeding to forward flight.

NOTE: Do not silence the horn with the HORN switch. The horn will be silenced when the pilot selects the hydraulic system cut-off switch to OFF.

NOTE: Speed may be increased as necessary, but control loads will increase with speed.

27
Q
A

POWER - REDUCE

LAND - AS SOON AS POSSIBLE

NOTE: The MGB has passed a bench test consisting in running the gearbox for 45 min. with zero oil pressure at the power corresponding to minimum power in level flight (at 55 KIAS).
