What were the different major dynasties in East Asia?
Han Dynasty, Qin Dynasty, Sui Dynasty, Tang Dynasty, and the Song Dynasty.
Which Dynasties had legalism?
Qin and Sui.
What type of government did the Song Dynasty have?
Bureaucracy and meritocracy. Meritocracy was based on Confucian texts.
What did the Tang Dynasty build?
The Grand Canal. It later lead to prosperity for the Song Dynasty.
What did the Song Dynasty innovate? How did it spread?
Guns, through the Silk Road.
What grain expanded China’s agricultural production? Where was it from?
Champa rice, from Vietnam.
What element did China discover in the 4th century?
Coal.
What other inventions did China make?
Paper in the 2nd century, and printing in the 7th century.
How did Buddhism diffuse to China?
Through the Silk Roads.
Under what Dynasty did Buddhism become popular? Why was it opposed?
The Tang Dynasty, because it was foreign.
What is filial piety?
When males inherit their fathers’ role.
What is feudalism? What country followed it?
Lack of centralized government, Japan.
What religions did Korea adopt?
Confucianism and Buddhism.
How was Korea different than China?
In Korea, aristocracy was more powerful than in China. Also, they didn’t have meritocracy.
How was Vietnam different than China?
There were more nuclear families, and villages didn’t have governments.
