When would you use a hydrogel dressing
when you need to add fluid to a wound- generally during granulation and epithelialisation stages of wound healing
How do tie-over dressings work
place loop sutures around the wound then attach dressing- helps to prevent pressure sores forming
Name a problem associated with foam dressings
if it is left on too long- and wound stays wet for too long can become macerated
How can you tell if a wound is through the haemorrhagic phase
if there is no blood dripping from wound then through it
What is ‘Faraging’
making holes into an exposed bone (in a wound) down to medullary cavity to encourage tissue to be formed from inside of bone and help the wound granulate
what is proud flesh
excessive granulation- is not a healthy granulation bed- needs to be removed to promote wound healing
