1. Project Planning Flashcards
What are direct costs?
Cost directly associated with the project (e.g., materials, salary, labor, equipment. Aka variable costs.
What are indirect costs?
Overhead cost that are not directly related to a specific project (e.g., office space, admin staff/taxes, insurance, bonds). Aka fixed costs.
How is plywood or drywall quantity measured?
Sheets (4 ft x 8 ft)
How is lumber quantity measured?
Volume; Board-Ft (1 ft x 1 ft x 1 in) = 144 cu. in./bd-ft
How is concrete forms quantity measured?
SFCA (sq. ft of contact area): surface area in contact with wet concrete.
Truck Cycle =
Loading time + Travel time to site + Dumping time + Return
What is Total Float?
the amount of time an activity can be delayed without delaying the project end date.
What is Free Float?
the amount of time an activity can be delayed without delaying the Early Start of its successor(s).
What is lag?
the amount of time whereby the successor activity is required to be delayed with respect to a predecessor activity.
What is lead?
the amount of time whereby the successor activity can be advanced with respect to a predecessor activity.
How do you calculate Total Float?
TF = LS - ES or TF = LF - EF
How do you calculate Free Float?
FF_i = min(ES_i+1) - EF_i
What are the four types of logical relationships between activities?
- Finish-to-Start (FS): start of successor depends upon completion of predecessor
- Finish-to-Finish (FF): finish of successor depends on completion of predecessor
- Start-to-Start (SS): start of successor depends on the start of predecessor
- Start-to-Finish (SF): finish of successor depends on the start of predecessor
How to calculate the amount of rebar needed?
[(dimension - total concrete clearance)/rebar spacing] + 1
