(1) Momentum Flashcards
1
Q
What is momentum?
A
It is a measure of how difficult it is to stop moving something that is moving.
2
Q
What is the formula for momentum?
A
Momentum (p)= Mass x velocity
3
Q
What is the formula for the rate of increase in momentum?
A
Rate of increase in momentum= Change in momentum/Time || (this can be used to calculate force as well)
4
Q
What happens to the momentum of objects before and after a collision?
A
It stays the same.
5
Q
What does Newton’s third law state?
A
For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
