What is an elastic material?

A

A material that does not easily break and returns to it’s original shape when the force acting on it is removed.

What happens to a spring when you apply a force to it?

A

It’s length changes (depending on the force) and it returns back to it’s original length when the force is removed. However, the spring may not go to it’s original shape if it reaches it’s elastic limit.
