What are the three categories for triage?
A
Immediate, urgent and delayed

What is a Category 1 emergency?
A
Obvious emergency e.g. collapsed, arrest, blood lost, run over, abdominal distention, shock

What is a Category 2 emergency?
A
Dyspnoeic, acute abdominal pain, heat exhaustion, parturition, eaten something

What is a Category 3 emergency?
A
Urgent treatment e.g. extremity injury, bone sticking out, laceration, abscess

What is a Category 4 emergency?
A
Delayed (appt within hours at the next available time) e.g. not eaten, minor lacerations, mild resp infections

A
2 hours
