Q

What is Ecological dynamics?

A

Ecological dynamics describes the theory that supports the NLP framework.

The CLA is founded on the theory of ecological dynamics, which considers athletes

and sports teams as complex adaptive systems – a network of highly integrated,

interacting sub-components (e.g. parts of the body in an athlete or members of a sports team).

In complex adaptive systems, the multitude of parts continually forms coordinated

patterns (synergies), which are shaped by surrounding informational constraints.

Through their interactions, one can identify the coordination states

that emerge in a complex system in nature.

Q

Constraint-led coaching: a new way of thinking

A

The CLA is an approach to teaching and coaching based on the

the fundamental concept of the mutuality of the performer and environment

Through the interaction of the three core categories of constraints

task, environment, and individual – a learner will self-organize

in attempts to generate effective movement solutions

Q

What is Skill acquisition for?

A

Skill acquisition is seen as the development of a functional relationship
between the performer and their environment.

Q

The specific focus is to …..?

A

Design learning activities that

allow individuals or groups of individuals (i.e. functioning in teams)

to self-organize and co-adapt to changing constraints.
