Q

What is Glassmorphism and what is it used for?

A

Glassmorphism is a frosted-glass effect with background blur. It is used as a multi-layered approach to have objects “float” in space. The blurred transparency and subtle borders let the user know that there is something in the back.

Q

What is Neumorphism and what is it used for?

A

Neumorphism is a form of minimalism characterized by a soft and light look, often with pastel colors. Elements are usually the same color as the background and are only distinguished by shadows and highlights surrounding the element.

Q

What is Claymorphism and what is it used for?

A

Similarly to Neumorphism, Claymorphism is also a combination of inner and outer shadows. However, the depth against the background is only done using one larger shadow on the x-axis too as opposed to traditional y-axis shadow.
Looks fluffy, rounded and 3D.

Q

What is Brutalism and what is it a response to?

Q

How can you increase a design’s accessibility?

A

Use contrasting colors (dark text on a light background or the opposite).
Allow users to control the font text size
If there are videos, provide captions.
If there are images, provide descriptions.

Q

What is a concern that is raised when using Neumorphism?

A

A visibility issue. It is hard to figure out the contrast ratio of background to element when they’re both the same color.

Q

What is the main assumption behind minimalism? What are the advantages?
Give an example.

A

“Less is More”
Advantages:
A minimalist interface loads faster, requires less resources and dev time, easily adapts to different screen sizes.
Example: Apple’s usage of Negative spacing as a means of highlighting.
