Why were the ideologies of the USA and SU different?
USA was capitalist and USSR was communist
Give some features of capitalism
- People choose the government -democracy
- free economy
- most have average living standards despite large differences in wealth
- everyone is free to start a private business and employ people
Give some features of communism
- one party government
- controlled economy
- lower average living standards, fairness and equality is encouraged
- business are owned by the stated and profit goes to the state
Why did many in the west feel the Russians couldn’t be trusted? who was causing this distrust overall?
Due to the russia’s withdrawal from the 1st world war In 1917 in the wake of the Russian revolution, overall causing USA to not trust the SU
How did the USA and SU cause distrust amongst each other?
Both regions had different ideologies and they both spread fear amongst each other for example the red scare in the US
Why did the civil war in Russia cause reasons for mistrust and who caused this mistrust?
The civil war of 1917 caused mistrust as the communist ‘Reds’ and anti communist ‘whites’ supported by the western troops fought each other and so caused the SU to mistrust the the USA
Which side caused the most mistrust?
The SU because of the Russian withdrawal from WW1 but on other occasions both sides caused mistrust like by having different ideologies
