1. Cardiac Deterioration Flashcards
What is creatinine kinase (ck)?
An enzyme expressed by various tissues and cell types - decreases more rapidly than troponin
Creatinine kinase: normal levels (male and female)
Male: 38 - 174, Female: 96 - 140
Creatinine kinase: onset
4 - 6 hours
Creatinine kinase: peaks
12 - 24 hours
Creatinine kinase: duration
3 - 5 days
Troponin (cTn): normal levels
undetectable
Troponin: onset
4 - 6 hours
Troponin: peaks
12 - 16 hours
Troponin: duration
up to 14 days
Sodium: normal values
134 - 145
Potassium: normal values
3.5 - 4.5 (potassium increases cardiac contraction)
Chloride: normal values
96 - 106
Glucose: normal values
4 - 6 mmol/L
Urea: normal values
2.5 - 7
Creatinine: normal values
0.5 - 1.2
What does MONA stand for?
Morphine, oxygen, nitrate, aspirin
What does the P wave represent?
(AF) atrial depolarisation
The QRS complex represents?
Contraction
The T wave represents?
Ventricular repolarisation
When diagnosing ECGs, what are the 3 questions to ask?
- Is there a P wave?
- Is it fast or slow?
- Is it regular or irregular?
