Aorta, renal artery, segmental artery,
Interlobar artery, arcuarte artery, interlobular artery afferent arteriole, glomerulus, efferent arteriole, peritubular capillaries or vasa recta
Blood supply leaving kidneys
Interlobular vein, arcuate vein, interlobar vein, segmental vein, renal vein, IVC
How does the ureter enter the bladder
Through the posterolateral surface of bladder and runs obliquely through the bladder wall
Bony landmarks for ureter
L1- hilum
Tips of transverse processes, crosses sacrum at s1 joint.
Ischial spine is where the ureter kinks towards the bladder.
What is the anatomical position of the bladder
Empty- lies in the pelvis and rests on symphysis pubic and floor of pelvis
Full- enlarges into abdominal cavity
Structure of bladder
Lines with uroepithelium, muscular folds called rugae. Wall made of the detrusor muscle
What is the trigone
Smooth area, triangle between the two ureteric openings and the internal urethral meatus
What stops backflow of urine
Oblique angle at the vesicouteral junction
What is the base of the bladder
Posterior surface
What are the two sphincters in the bladder
Internal urethral sphincter- involuntary
External urethral sphincter- voluntary
Anatomical location of prostate
Proximal part of blader, proximal part of urethra.
