02.01 Histology of the Cell Flashcards

1
Q

What are the steps of Slide Preparation?

A
  1. Fixation - Termination of Cell Cycle, Prevention of Autolysis and Preservation of parts by using Fixative
  2. Dehydration - Removal of water using ethyl alcohol
  3. Clearing - Removing alcohols and lipids by using lipid solvent making it transparent
  4. Embedding - Specimen baked using paraffin making it rigid for sectioning
  5. Sectioning - Done Using Microtome
  6. Staining - Using the proper stain to identify specific parts
