What are zoonotic diseases?

Transmission
-blood
-urine
-feces
-saliva/body fluids
into cuts/sores etc.
Rabies
- A virus transmitted through saliva of infected animals
-Avoid through vaccinations
Leptospirosis
-water born Bacteria found in urine/saliva of wild animals/affected pets
-If infected beaver pees in pond and a dog drinks from the same water it can be spread
- Treatable with antibiotics, preventable from vaccines
Cat Scratch Fever
Bacteria- Bartonella species
-Transmitted from cat ingesting fleas then by saliva and scratches from infected cats
-treated with antibiotics
-prevent by treating for fleas/not letting cat lick you
Ring worm
-transmitted thru skin to skin contact
-can be transferred on blankets
-treatable with oral meds or ointment
Bubonic Plague
transmitted from fleas
-prevent fleas
treatable with antibiotics
