Beliefs about Zakah
Muslims believe all wealth comes from Allah. Therefore, zakah is not seen as charity because Muslims believe it is simply sharing the wealth given by Allah.
In the Qur’an it says that that zakah can be used for supporting the poor, freeing slaves, helping those in debt or maintaining religious buildings.
