A

12 Imams chosen by Allah, direct descendants of Muhammad beginning with Ali
Protected by Allah from committing any sin, keeps islam pure
First 11 were martyred
12th is in occultion, waiting to reappear at a time chosen by Allah
Will return at the end of the world as the messiah

  • belief over who should be the caliph/sucessor of Muhammad
  • Shi’a muslims believed Ali should be the first caliph instead of Abu Baker
  • Shi’as do not acknowledge the first 3 caliphs

A

Divine justice
- allah is perfect and always acts in a correct way
- humans are able to use their reasoning to work out right way to act
- disagree with predestination, believe humans have free will and thats why allah can judge them
