Blue water and green water
Blue water consists of fresh surface water and groundwater; these two types include the water in freshwater lakes, rivers, wetlands and aquifers.
Green water is the water that does not run into streams or recharge groundwater but is stored in the soil or stays on top of the soil or vegetation. is water eventually evaporates or transpires through plants. Green water is used by crops, forests, grasslands and savannas.
Run-off definition
Precipitation that is not absorbed by soil and which runs over the land and into streams.

Improved water is water that is safe for human consumption. Unimproved water can come from unprotected wells and springs, water carts and tanker trucks.
