In 1939 the Komsomol became affiliated with the Communist Party.

Such as volunteer social work, political and drama clubs were organised

Young Pioneer Palaces were built which were really community centres for children

They were organised free of charge
Becoming a member of the Komsomol
Meant the young people assisted the police and Red Army with party campaigns.
Members also had a greater chance of social mobility and a better education.
