You stoopid Flashcards
What combines to form the external carotid v?
posterior auricular and posterior retromandibular
What makes up septum proper?
Vomer, perpendicular plate of ethmoid, septal cartilage
what all is covered with nasal mucosa?
everything except the nasal vestibule
Boundaries of the nasal cavity:
- Roof
- Floor
- Medial wall
- Lateral wall
- frontal, sphenoid ethmoid
- palatine process of maxilla, horizontal process of palatine
- nasal septum
- superior, middle, inferior conchae
Blood Supply of Nose
Maxillary a. 1. Sphenopalatine a. 2. anterior/posterior ethmoidal a. 3. greater palatine a. Facial a. 1. Superior labial a. 2. Lateral Nasal branches
*converge at Kiesselbach spot - severe nose bleeds
Maxillary Sinus
largest
- drains via maxillary osmium into middle meatus
- arterial supply: superior alveolar branches of maxillary a, and greater palatine a.
- innervated: superior alveolar branches
Ethmoid Sinus
- drains anterior and middle ethmoidal cells into middle meatus
- arterial supply: ethmoidal a. (from opthalmic a. )
- innervation: nasociliary n (V1)
Sigmoid Sinus
- drains via sphenoethmoidal recess
- arterial supply: posterior ethmoidal a.
- innervation: posterior ethmoidal n.
Frontal Sinus
- drains via frontonasal duct into semilunar hiatus of middle meatus
- arterial supply: supraorbital a, anterior ethmoidal a.
- innervation: supraorbital n (V1)
