Methods are primitive, little use of modern technology.
What is much of available agricultural land used for?
Narcotic leaf - “qat”, high price on local markets.
40-50% of water used to irrigate “qat”
What food imports is Yemen highly dependant on?
90% of its wheat, 100% of rice are imported, so Yemen is vulnerable to international food price rises.
Where does most export revenue come from?
In 2015 more than 90% of foreign earnings were from exports of oil and gas.
