Year 7 - Cells Flashcards
7 processes that all organisms do (life processes)
Hint: MRS NERG
Movement Reproduction Sensitivity Nutrition Excretion Respiration Growth
What do plant and animals cells both have
Nucleus, cytoplasm, cell membrane
What does a plant cell have
Chloroplasts, vacuole, cell wall, cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm
Define nucleus
Controls what the cell does (like a brain)
Define cytoplasm
Jelly like liquid where all the chemical reactions take place
Cell membrane - define
Thin layer of skin around the cell - holds the cell together and controls what goes in and out
Define chloroplasts
Contains chlorophyll - used for photosynthesis
Vacuole - define
A big space filled with cell zap (shock absorber)
Cell wall - define
A rigid frame around the cell for support and protection
Draw an animal cell and plant cell

What do cells do to complete a particular job
Adapt
Name all 5 specialised cells
Egg cell, sperm cell, cilia cell, palisade cell and root hair cell
What does a palisade cell do
Designed for photosynthesis
What does a cilia cell do
Stops lung cancer
Egg cell and sperm cell
Fertilisation
