What do i say in the 1st paragraph?
Flames and dangling wire: This evokes images, stimulated through language techniques. Metaphors and Juxtaposition are used to view humanitys materialstic attitude on the natrual world.“We come to a landscape of tin cans, of cars like skulls” is a metaphor of humanitys materialsim and how it represents the death and destruction of the natrual world. “I see the mirage of the city” reinforces the idea that humans have destroyed the world.

What do i say in the 2nd paragraph?
Harbour Dusk: Harbour dusk does question. it explores the relationship between two people and how it is failing which is expressed through the colour seen and the yachts characteristics in the poem. Colours such as “Aubergine dark” are used in the poem to symbolise the current health on the relationship. Which is dark and unhealthy. This changes later in the poem with “They seemed to whisper” symbolising that the relationship has grown and they are closer together. Gray uses the natural world and the impact humanity has on it to convey this message.

What do i say in the 3rd paragraphs?
Byron Bay: Winter: Byron bay does question. It utilizes language techniques to show a world that juxtaposes the world seen in FADW. The poem does this by showing a world to the reader through language techniques such as metaphors and the meaning of colour through symbolism. “Behind cloudy afternoon swells, the colour of claret stain” describes the sunset that lies behind the afternoon swells which depicts how little humans have interacted with the natrual world seen in this poem.

What do i say in the 4th paragraphs?
Description of a walk: DOAW answers the question. It evokes images of the hinterland of eucalyptus forests in New South Wales/Victoria whilst interacting with the natural world including rain and cicadas. Huamanity has not impacted this natrual world with descriptive metaphors and juxtaposition showing this. “with a broken icebergs edge; all of a rusty red or burnt orange tone.” is a metaphor for parts of Australia that humans have inhabited and interacted with, places such as darwin in the Northern Territory

What do i say in the 1st paragraph?
Flames and Dangling Wire: Answers the question. This is done with similes and metaphors. “On a highway over the marshland, off to one side, the smoke of different fires in a row, like fingers spread and dragged to smudge: it is a rubbish dump, always burning.” This stanza focuses on detail to the high regard with similes like “like fingers spread and dragged to smudge”

Harbour dusk: Answers the question. This is a lens for viewing small details blah blah blah. It is done so the reader can pick up on Grays symbolism of the human relationship. This is seen heavily in the third stanza with the yachts symbolising a human relationship. “They seemed to whisper” shows the yachts are in a good relationship, whilst in stanza 2 the colour “aubergine dark” is used, describing the relationship earlier in the poem. Hook this back to question.

What do i say in the 3rd paragraph?
Description of a Walk: Answers the question. Provides lots of details bout nature. He uses a heavy theme of nature throughout the poem as the reader explores a forest located in south AUS. “Great Gouts of Lava, petrified as iron” and “All of a rusty red or burnt orange tone” can easily still relate to modern day Australia with the recent fires in 2019 and 2020.The red or burnt orange tone could also describe the haze of smoke that has covered Australia from these fires.
Effective poetry takes the responder on a sensory journey to a world often subsumed under the business of life. Choose four of Gray’s poems and explore how effectively Gray uses cinematic moments to illuminate the simplicity and beauty of the natural world.
What do i say in the 1st paragraph?
Flames and Dangling Wire: This answers the question. This is done through consistent themes supported through metaphors and juxtaposition. This is seen in stanza 3: “Approaching the dump. All the air wobbles in a cheap mirror. There is fog over the hot sun. The metaphor of the air wobbling gives a sense that there is a mirage that has swarmed over the city. This is supported through the rest of the stanza through the use of a cinematic moment.

Harbour Dusk answers the question. It is done through the use of symbolic colours, symbolic objects and metaphors. “There was a mauve underlit” symbolises the relationship between the two individuals. It is currently good and happy. Then it is seen further into the stanza the colour Aubergine dark is used. This symbolises that the relationship has changed from positive to negative. This is further backed up cinematically in stanza 3 with the yachts also symbolising their relationship with the yachts whispering to each other, but also hovering as resolve were ill.

Byron bay: winter answers the question. This is done through the use of referencing to important figures, symbolic colours and similies. This is seen in stanza 2 which starts in line 1 in a first-person perspective which helps the responder in understanding that it is a cinematic moment. By using this cinematic moment big man grey references line 3,4 and stanza 3 for the question. “Behind cloudy swells, the colour of claret stain” describes the sunset behind the afternoon swells. This illustrates and illuminates the simplicity and beauty of our natrual world.
