Q

How is heart rate regulated?

A
  • cardiovascular centre in medulla oblongata is the processor for nervous control in the heart
  • if a drop in blood pH is detected this indicates increase in CO2 concentration

Q

How does body respond to a decrease in temperature

A
  • body temp monitored by hypothalamus and peripheral temp receptors in the skin
  • if the core body temp drops he brain sends signals to the effectors to reverse the change by conserving heat
  • blood vessels near skin contract, muscle contractions occur causing shivering and hair near the skin to be raised
