How do Xanthine Oxidase Inhibitors work?
They will lower blood urate levels that are causing the inflammation in your joints.
What are the side effects of Xanthine Oxidase Inhibitors?
May cause a rash, dizziness, drowsiness
What are the counselling points of Xanthine Oxidase inhibitors?
Do not drive or operate machinery if your feeling dizziness or drowsiness side effects.
If you develop swollen lips, dever, sore throat, stop taking this medicine and tell your doctor.
You will probably get gout attacks for the first few months of taking this medicine. it doesn’t mean it isn’t working, when the urate levels in your body are low enough gradually flares will improve and eventually stop - you just need to keep on taking it.
Your doctor will measure the urate in your blood to make sure that your dose is accurate.
