X-rays Basics Flashcards
Study who discovered x rays and which year How x rays are formed The process of producing xrays Which part of xray tube has more electrons Exposure factors
On which year were x rays discovered?
1895
Facts about x rays
They are invisible
They travel in a straight line
They have both magnet and electrical properties
Travel in waves its has both frequence and wavelength
Can not change direction by electric and magnet because its neutral
Its part of electromagnetic
Which part of the x ray tube has more electrons
Cathode
How are x rays produced
Cathode is heated up and electrons are produce, this is called thermionic emission. On the opposite side is anode, electrons moves from cathode to the anode and suddenly stop or decelerate the kinetic energy on the electrons is then transferred from electrons to anode and x rays are produced.
Why the x ray tube is glassed
To prevent the electrons from escaping the x ray tube
For air evacuation
What are exposure factors
Kvp- kilo voltage peak determims the speed of electrons from cathode to anode
mAS-melemparage determines the quantity of electronics and exposure time.
What is SID
Source of image distance
Full name of IR and CR
Image receptor
Central ray
What is needed to produce an x ray
X ray machine- X ray tube Patient Exposure factors Radiation protection SID IR
