The most major rising was in Kent led by Sir Thomas Wyatt

What were the causes of the Wyatt rebellion?
A
- Rejection of the Spanish marriage (xenofobia, lack of english pride etc.) - MAIN CAUSE
- Religious concerns: many of Wyatt’s main supporters came from Maidstone (a protestant stronghold)
- Personal grievances amongst nobility
- The economic hardships created an environment in which rebellion could gain support more easily
- Fear of loss of priviledges amongst the gentry in a Spanish-dominated court, some of which had already lost offices
