Q

desribe the events that filled the powder keg of Europe

A

More than any other single event, the assassination of Austro-Hungarian Archduke Franz Ferdinand in June of 1914 was the ‘spark’ that ignited the Great War. The heir to the throne of the kingdom of Austria-Hungary, Franz Ferdinand and his wife sophie were shot by Gavrilo Princip, a serb and yugoslavian nationalist. this lead to Austrio invasion of serbia and brought in all other alliances. When war broke out in 1914, the small country of Serbia aligned itself with the Triple Entente, while the Ottoman Empire aligned itself with the Triple Alliance.
