How would you introduce yourself?
‘Hi, my name is Tom. I am a student pharmacist practicing here, how can I help you today?’
What are red flags?
Pieces of information a patient may say or show which elevates the associated risk or raises concerns for their safety
How would you go about safety netting a situation?
Ask them to come back in a few days for a check up, arrange to go see them in a few days for a check up, advise if there are any additional problems to visit the GP.
What are things you need to do to effectively communicate with someone
First: Body language - Be open
Second: listen - Be attentive and respectful
Third: slow, understandable speech - make the information easy to understand
Fourth: Develop your understanding - re ask questions, repeat back to the patient.
