Balance of power was the theory was that militarism would inevitably lead to a balance of power beginning international peace but realistically failed because national leaders wanted to use their weapons on other nations
What did alliances provide for nations back then and how did they cause WW1?
Alliances provided trusted relations and mutual military defense/backup between nations. The reason why alliances caused WW1 was because of the overlap or domino effect of a bunch of nations going to war against each other starting with the transnational conflict between 2 nations.

a reform that could have led to peace was the full knowledge of the alliances between nations which discouraged countries to go to war
How did imperialism contribute to tensions/conflict between nations before WW1?
Nations extending over other foreign nation’s imperialized terrirory to expand their own colonial territory
How did nationalism lead to Franz Ferdinand’s assassination?

How did the assassination of Franz Ferdinand spark World War 1?
The Austrian-Hungarian government felt a right after the assassination to send demands to Serbia which they knowingly knew Serbia would decline in order to justify a declaration of war. Alliances would then scale the war out of proportion.
What would usually begin trench warfare between opposing sides in World War 1?
Countries were usually at a stalemate with military power and couldn’t make a move toward the opposing side, which made them immobile at military fronts
