Assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand:

A

He was visiting Bosnia with his wife at the capitol and was shot. Just before then, there was a bombing that injured some people who were near them. Gavrilo Princip, a bosnian serb, was the one who performed the terrorist attack, hoping to bring down the Austro-Hungarian empire.

Schlieffen Plan- Why didn’t it work?

A

It was a german plan that was meant to take over parts of France. They would try to invade Belgium and surround Paris. Russia and France just ended up reducing the size of their army

A

A series of systematic war crimes that were committed on Belgium people. The killed babies, children, women, and pretty much anyone who wasn’t in war.

A

First battle that was fought in the war. The germans succeeded when trying to take over northeastern regions of France.

Battle of Verdun:

A

It was one of the most horrific battles in WW1, estimating around 800,000 casualties. It was a surprise that anyone survived at all. Most soldiers went because they were sick of living in the trenches.
