Outline introspection (3 marks)

A

1) Introspection is a systematic analysis of one’s own experience
2)Participants were presented with standardised sensory events like a ticking metronome and asked to report their reactions of the object.
3)Their experiences are analysed in terms of structuralism and this was to make the data objective rather than subjective

Q

A strength

A
  • Wundt created the first laboratory which is a controlled environment
  • This allowed him (and others) to create standardised methods and testable hypotheses
  • This meant that this increased the replicability and internal reliability of his findings
  • As a result, this helped the shift psychology from philosophy to a science.
