Written Test Flashcards
What does adequate visual reference mean?
AVR is enough visual reference to maintain directional control on takeoff. If you’re at an airport which does not provide you with tdz, cl, and roll out RVR’s, then you’ll move to AVR… which is a higher RVR.
Who would you call to pick up your clearance?
Clearance Delivery. If not, ground control
If you intercept Glide slope at 3,000’ is this considered the FAF?
note: the top of the plate says GS 2,000’
No, FAF is the altitude on the GS at minimum GS intercept alt.
How high does class bravo go?
It is typically 10,000 but can be tailored for individual airports (KDEN).
Maximum ramp weight?
Non posted. (Not more than can be burned from fuel during taxi to take-off)
What does a taxi closure symbol look like?
an “x” on the chart or a big yellow “x” on the taxiway.
What is MOCA?
Minimum obstruction clearance alt. for the entier route segment. However, the nav signal is only guaranteed within 22nm of the nav aids.
What is the meaning of a symbol which has an H with a triangle around it?
Helipad on an Airport Diagram
What is the max t/o weight in the plane you’re currently flying?
2646 (MAM 40-227)
If you can only see the approach lights what does this allow you to descent to?
100’ above TDZ
What is MEA?
Minimum Enroute Altitude. Meets minimum obstacle clearance. 1000’ non-mountainous, 2000’ mountainous. And guarantees navigational signal coverage.
Where is the final approach fix on an ILS?
Lightning Bolt; on GS at min GS intercept alt.
What is the blue line that is the separation line of Low alt charts?
Marks where and what the next adjoining chart would be.
Maximum landing weight?
2535
What is MORA?
Minimum off-route altitude. Minimum altitude within 10 miles of route regardless of route width. Grid MORA minimum off-route altitude in sector, helpful in planning GPS direct-to courses.
