Authentication
Any writing or voice can be authenticated by someone who can prove the document is what it purports to be.
(1) The creator and custodian of a document can authenticate it
(2) A questioned document examiner can determine if the document is authentic
(3) Some documents are self-authenticating, such as deeds that are notarized, newspapers, official records, and trade labels.
(4) Voices can be authenticated by anyone who has sufficient familiarity with the person’s voice, by making a call to someone listed in the telephone directory and having that person self-identify.
