Wrist Flashcards
Proximal row of carpals
Scaphoid, lunate, Triquetum, pisiform
Distal row of carpals
Trapezium, trapezoid, capitate, hamate
Radiocarpal joint
Distal end of radius and disk articulating with proximal role of carpals.
By axial, flexion and extension in sagittal plane. Radial, ulnar deviation in frontal plane.
Convex on concave; opposite direction, proximal role of carpal is moving posteriorly and distal hand moves anteriorly; flexion
Midcarpal joint: between distal and proximal role of carpools, nonaxial; gliding and sliding
Carpometacarpal joint: distal row of carpals and bases of metacarpals.
Real collateral ligament; lateral
Radial styloid process of radius and to the scaphoid and trapezium bones
Palmar radiocarpal ligament
Anterior surface of radius and Ulna, limits excessive extension
Dorsal Radio carpal ligament
Posterior surface of the radius and ulna. Limits excess flexion
Articular disk
Distal end of ulna, buffer between ulna, lunate and triquetrum.
Palmar fascia
Protects the flexor tendons. Dupuytrens contracture
Flexing muscles
Flexor carpi radialis,
flexor carpi ulnaris
Extending muscles
Extensor carpi radialis longus
Extensor carpi radialis brevis
Extensor carpi ulnaris
Radial deviation muscles
Extensor carpi radialis
Flexor carpi radialis
Ulnar deviation muscles
Extensor carpi ulnaris
Flexor carpi ulnaris
