What are the four types of wound?

A
  1. Clean - Uninfection, no imflammation and no entering of GI, GU or Resp tract
  2. Clean contaminated - Resp, GU or GI tract entered in a controlled way
  3. Contaminated - Open, fresh accidental would with inflammation
  4. Dirty - Old traumatic wound with existing infection

What are the three types of wound closure?

A
  1. Primary - Bringing the edges together eg staples or suture
  2. Secondary - Cant pull together so allow to heal eg vacupack
  3. Tertiary (delayed) - Heavily infected wound with debris that doesnt close eg bite or glass
