What was the Munich Conference and what was established during it?
Germany, Italy, Great Britain, France sign an agreement to give a bit of Czechoslovakia and other German-dominant territories to Germany
What was the significance of the Weimar Republic? Relation to Hitler’s coming power?
Kaiser Wilhelm abdicates the throne leaving Germany no ruler. A moderate group take over and create the democratic Weimar Republic
What was the Dawes Plan?
It revised the reparations that Germany had to pay for WW1
Describe the many factors that led to Hitler gaining power.
The Great Depression: Germany had very high and terrible inflation. Germany’s debt from WW1. The people blamed the Weimar Republic for the horrible economy for signing the Treaty of Versailles. All of these factors led people to dismay and chaos with not knowing what to do, so it was effortless for Hitler to present himself as an aspiring leader who could bring back up Germany and restore the economy and country, and when people saw that, they took it and ran.
What was the Sudetenland? Why was it an important area of land?
The territory occupied by German-speaking people, however still not an official part of Germany. Hitler wanted this land back and wanted it for Germany.
