Hammurabi (Babylonian)
famous for his written law code. He also made Babylon the cultural center of Mesopotamia and conquered most of Baylon’s territory

Hittite king who signed the first peace treaty
Babylon
The capital city for many different people. It was the most beautiful city ever constructed.
Sennacherib
Assyrian king who crushed a Babylonian revolt and destroyed the city. He also conquered Phoenicia and put Jerusalem under siege. He built a new Assyria capital at Nineveh.
Hanging Gardens of Babylon
one of the 7 ancient wonders of the world. Built by Nebuchadnezzar for his homesick wife.
Ishtar Gate
Built by Nebuchadnezzar. It was the most beautiful entrance to Babylon.
Persepolis
A beautiful capital of Persia. It contained the 60 column hall.
Cyrus II (Great)
The great Persian King who created the Persian empire.
Royal Road
A road from Asia Minor to Persepolis with rest stops every 18 miles.
Darius III
The Persian king who was defeated by Alexander the Great causing the fall of the Persian Empire.
Hebrews
The first monotheistic people. They were the enemies of the Palestinians/Philistines.
Kingdom of Israel

kingdom carved out by David. later, it weakens when it divides.
