Inerrant
Making no mistakes or errors. Scripture is inerrant: that is, it always teaches the truth, never falsehood.
Inspired
Guided by God. From a word meaning “breathed in”. The human writers of the Scripture wrote in their own language, but through God’s inspiration they wrote what God intended them to write and nothing more.
Free-will
A gift from God so that can make our own choices.
Infallible
Incapable of failing. The Bible and the teaching of the Church are infallible because of a special protection by God.
Magisterium
The teaching of the Church which, guided by the Holy Spirit, interprets Scripture and Tradition.
Sacred
Set aside for God
Literature
The Scripture is literature. It consists of many differ types of literature because human authors wrote it.
Covenant
An agreement that establishes a sacred bond between persons. A covenant is more than a contract: a contract establishes a temporary relationship beneficial to both parties, whereas a covenant is intended to bind both persons in kinship forever.
Biblia
The books of the bible.
Objective history
History without bias. Only God. Is capable of telling objective history, because he is the only completely unbiased being.
Canon
The list of inspired books. Greek for “measuring rod”.
Salvation history
The story of God’s plan to save humanity from the consequences of sin. This plan begins with Creation, is unfolding now, and will continue until the en of time.
Bible
Scripture. The collection of all the canonical books. The Bible is divided into two parts: the Old Testament, made up of books written before the coming of Jesus Christ, and the New Testament, made up of books written after the coming of Jesus Christ.
Catholic
Universal. Catholic can describe the Church or one of her members.
Church
The faithful. This can refer to the Roman Catholic Church or an individual diocese.
