Procedure Marmot study
Longitudional- assesseed at the start for signs of conoary heart disease at the start and then agan after 5 years
Marmot study findings-
Found strong positive correlation w low job control and colonary heart disease whilst accounting for all other factors such as age, health, smoking
A03 points of Marmot
Cross cultural variation- large sample
longitudional and correlatin not causation

Natural ex
14 finishers 14 cleaners in a sawmill
Finishers
low contro, lots responsibility, no freedom, lots workload
Cleaners
high control more flexible
Procedure of Johanssson study
Measure urine for stress hormones, self report method confirmed control, eotkload felt and measured social supp
A03 general
-supportive evidence
- Correlation not causation
- Individual differences
- -Cultural diff- Individualist - UK USA prefer high control. Collectivist cultures prefer low control
Findings Johansson
Higher levels of stress hormone in finishers than cleaners, subjective measure support objective data saying reports of workload and control when hormones highest.
Cleaners stress decreased during day
Finishers increased during day
